Influence & Mystery

Influence
We are influenced, for before birth
Highly influenced when we are young
And still influenced when we are old.

The difference is that the older we grow,
the more we choose what influences us.

In the end we are influenced by what we chose to be influenced by.

Yet we want to be influenced
or rather, we need to be influenced.
We can not live without being influenced
else life will be grey.
Yet we can not only live influenced
else we deny our influence.

Mystery

I think God included mystery
so that there will always be the known, and the unknown.

It sometimes feels like the known stays the same as the unknown,
no matter how much you learn.
The old saying: The more you know, the more you know how little you know.

If there was no mystery, we would stop seeking,
and we would stagnate,
and get stuck in the now
until tomorrow and today looks continually the same.

In all that I learn, I feel all the less wise.
Many are there that are better than you,
Many are there that know mare than you...
but no one person knows everything that I know,
thus each have a unique mix.

Pursuit
All must be ever learning to know the Lord (2 Tim 3:7a)

Maybe it is in continuing to seek God, that we actually know God.
If we say we know God, then we stop seeking Him, and then we no longer know Him.
Seemingly God changes, even though He stays the same.
Rather, to know God is to continually seek Him, for there is always more of Him to know.

We stand on the edge between knowledge and mystery,
yet we always have to work in both.

We can not live only from knowledge, nor only off mystery,
yet we need both.

Dual
Many answers to questions are two or more answers together,
yet we have been trained in school to only have a right or wrong answer... so we always look for the 'one answer' to the question.

Unfortunately God did not make things that way.
You can not defy gravity, yet you can defy gravity.

There are many exceptions to rules,
and many cases that defy the norm.

Even God does not work the same,
and even in what He does consistently, He also varies.

If the world was a one answer system,
then we would get the memo and all try to live by it...
kind of like the law... and we know how that turned out.
We were never created to live only by laws...

we were created to live in relationship with God,
guided by (seemingly conflicting) principles and values.
